About Our Club I was asked the other night by one of our young fencers, "who owns the club," and it occurred to me that the answer is something that should be shared with everyone. It's simple, we all own the club. The Club is simply a cooperative in which we all pay for membership so that we have a place to fence. I think it's important to share this so that everyone knows what they pay goes directly to keeping the lights on and the doors open. Thank you to everyone who participates because it means we all get to fence!

New Floor As some of you may already know, the club now has a new floor! We recently installed a wood floor over the existing concrete to aid in traction and to be more "joint-friendly". Check out the photos of the installation on our Facebook page.

We're In! Practices to Begin It may just look like a big empty garage, but it's all ours. The lease for the new fencing club building is complete and we still have some improvements to make, the biggest being a wood floor, but practices have started.
This is a big step for us as a club and we believe having our own space will allow us to expand the hours of class offerings, practice times, times for individual lessons and even give us the ability to host competitions. We hope that you will consider participating and that you are as excited as we are.

The USFA (United States Fencing Association) has accepted our application to become an official club. This is a positive step for fencing in Northern Michigan. Thanks to all our fencers who support us by showing up and being part of the "club".

Youth Fencing Announcement For those of you who have been waiting for an answer about youth fencing thank you for your patience. The good news is that along with the NMC Extended Education Coordinator we have agreed upon the creation of a youth fencing class. The idea is that youth fencers ages 9 - 13 will have a class dedicated specifically for them. The first youth class will begin in NMC Extended Education's spring session in April. The class will be four weeks long, one hour a week on Sundays before the adult classes. We're hoping to run two four week sessions so that young fencers can continue to fence through the spring.
